Dancing Sky Theatre’s Artist in Residence

Fall Activities

Happy Harvest Everyone!

Thanks to generous support from the Saskatchewan Arts Board, I have the pleasure of being your Artist in Residence for 2011/2012. Some of you may be wondering, what the heck is an artist in residence anyway??

Well, it’s a program that funds an artist’s salary so they can be part of your community for a year, in which they get to create artistic projects with the people in and around Meacham, and also develop their own work.

In my case, I am a playwright and for my own work I have been writing a play called Firelight that will be produced in the Spring of 2012 at Dancing Sky Theatre. I am also working on a collection of children’s plays adapted from short stories written by local writers to be performed by our own Meacham young actors club.

Here are some of the public projects that I would love you to be a part of!

Meacham Young Actors Club

For young actors ages 7 and up
Come to Dancing Sky theatre every Thursday at 4:00pm starting October 6th to play fun theatre games, learn acting skills and be part of a theatrical production (or two!) Registration is flexible and ongoing throughout the school year, come join us anytime! Registration fee is $10

Writers Colony

November 5th and 6th , 10am to 6pm
Are you having difficulty finding time to work on your writing?
Come to Dancing Sky Theatre with whatever writing project you are working on and enjoy some focused writing time in a relaxed, creative environment. I will be facilitating group readings and discussions in the afternoons and also one -on -one discussion/critique throughout the weekend. Can’t commit to a whole weekend? Come join us for one day, or even just part of a day. Registration fees will be adjusted accordingly. Registration fee is $60 (includes lunch both days)

Writing Mentorships

Are you a writer? Do you need to bounce ideas off of someone? Get constructive feedback? Just send me your work and we can meet to talk about it in a constructive, safe, creative environment. All ages, all experience levels, all writing genres welcome!!

Auditions for "The Barn"
